MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR MONDAY: OVEREEM VS. BROWNE RUMORED

There’s a heavyweight fight rumored for this summer, and it’s a large one. Based on MMAjunkie.com, former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is predicted to return to the cage at UFC 164, which takes place August 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. And his rumored competition is none aside from heavyweight banger Travis Browne, though this struggle is still far from official. Should it materialize, though, expect this to be the co-main occasion for UFC 164 as it’s unquestionably one of the biggest fights of this summertime. Overeem, who had been pumped out by Antonio”Bigfoot” Silva at UFC 156, was set to return to action against Junior dos Santos at UFC 160 but had to pull out due to injuries, but healthy, he will seem to get back into title contention by simply taking out the rising Browne, who also has a recent reduction to Silva. This is a fairly even matchup but I really do favor Browne to win the fight, and I believe he could acquire it by knockout. However, Overeem has all the hype and people support behind him and, although he dropped to”Bigfoot,” I still expect him to start as the favorite in this fight, possibly in the -200 range, with all the comeback on Browne becoming +150. And if that is true, then I will definitely be recommending a drama on Browne, who’s coming from a KO win over veteran Gabriel Gonzaga. Another bet to target for this battle is going to be that it doesn’t go to conclusion, as either man has the capacity to knock one another out, so definitely consider creating a play on this prop if it’s under -300 come fight night. Lauzon vs. Johnson Booked For UFC on FOX Sports 1 The UFC now booked a lightweight bout between Massachusetts native Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson to the upcoming UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 card, which takes place August 17 at Boston, MA. The battle will likely be a preliminary card bout. This is an excellent battle between two of the more exciting fighters in the UFC lightweight branch so kudos to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva for booking it. For Lauzon, it’s a chance to redeem himself after losing to Jim Miller at a war in UFC 155, while Johnson really needs to bounce back big time after suffering back-to-back defeats to Myles Jury and Reza Madadi. This is an aggressive fight if it remains standing but if it strikes the floor then Lauzon, who’s a BJJ ace, will have a huge edge over Johnson, who has quite a poor ground game. Therefore, I anticipate Lauzon to open at around -230 or so with the launching comeback on Johnson being approximately +170, but things could easily change when the public decides they prefer Johnson to win. Personally, I believe that this is a really good matchup for Lauzon therefore I’d call him to triumph and that I certainly would be targeting him to get a bet this summer, in addition to targeting the Lauzon via entry prop.
