IAN MCCALL TALKS LATEST INJURY WHICH FORCED HIM OFF UFC FIGHT NIGHT 73

Ian McCall was slated to fight Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 73 but unfortunately had to pull out due to injury. McCall (13-5) caught up with MMAOddsBreaker on Episode 115 of The Parting Shot Podcast that Sunday to discuss his latest injury. Injury that forced him out of Dustin Ortiz fight at UFC Fight Night 73″I have a tear in my shoulder, in my labrum and a tear in my bicep. I mean I’m literally at the physicians now speaking about it. It is what it is, we train hard and I am brittle apparently. I have to pull from a good deal of s**t. It sucks, but when you train as hard as I do and you have been doing so as long as I do, its part of the game” Career Plagued with Injuries”My UFC profession has been just been plagued with injuries and it is frustrating. This is my chief source of income, I have other things I do however, this is my main source. I have a little girl to feed, that I feed on my own and it sucks. However, on a different note, this really is my passion; this is what I really like to do. I am 31 years old, I’m not getting younger I have been in struggles for 13 decades. To see my body fail me time and time again it is hard. It’s one of these things it makes you question a good deal. I am such a healthy individual, my household is like incredibly healthy, and you know my daughter has to have a really strict diet. I’ve had my hip, groin tear, which is bad. I’m sure I will have to get a hip replacement eventually. I have had three hand surgeries. I got into an automobile accident not too long ago and messed up my shoulder. It’s always a thing, but it’s better than having a real job.” Getting Positive and Optimistic”Most of my life I have been a pessimist to become honest. I look at it in different ways, it might be worse, I could be dead. I might have lost full use of my arm or whatever. There are a whole lot of things I consider. I have to maintain a positive mindset because I must be a good role model for team-mates and my child. It’s one of those things I’m not going to sit around and sulk. That is what it is, I’ll be al right.” Ideas on Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson II at UFC 191″Demetrious is evolving and I think that now he’s found a bit more power in his punches. His overall game is always changing and getting better. I think he will conquer Dodson, is he going to finish [him]? I don’t know. I think this is one guy he will have a hard time completing. He ended Horoguchi with one minute left, and as much as I wish to beat his face , he is outstanding. He’s the exact man you want as winner in regards to performance. I’m likely to go together on this one for sure.” Reduction to John Lineker”Oh man which was enormous. I got too emotional; I revealed the very first round that I could definitely overcome him. People were like’Oh he’s a bantamweight’ I do not care; the guy still is not very good I must have overcome him. I think I showed that you are not going to knock me out even though you’re a huge puncher. My face will split open before you knock me out and that’s exactly what occurred. With me it’s outside matters, they constantly distract me, woman problems or what have you. I just sort of fell apart after that round. I am smart enough to know that I was going to drop that fight sitting backstage. Anthony Kiedis and Dane White came about and said hi and I’m just kind of like, I am screwed. This was a mental thing, that’s always been my biggest downfall. I have a brand new mental coach, he is my mind Sherpa. He is overall made me a better individual. As far as my optimism goes, he’s a big part of it” Feeling Overlooked in Flyweight Division”I would not say overlooked, there’s other people to talk about. I blew it with John; I screwed up in that struggle. So perhaps I don’t deserve to be talked about it. Let us state this injury is 6 months, they’ll talk about me after that, that is alright. You can find other people who deserve it. It does matter how good I could be or how good I am, it is not my turn. DJ needs people to struggle, the division needs people to shake and move and create a big jolt. I don’t mind it, it is cool, anything.” Raising a daughter as a single dad”Yeah it is not simple; realistically I don’t know anything about girls. I know how to get one in mattress that’s about it. I sit there sometimes and stare at her like’what’s going on?’ Do not cut your hair, do not put soap in places, like I do not know. Realistically I have a lot help, I live together with my father. My father got a divorce, he said proceed in, and I’ll assist you. My dad’s retired so he kind of plays mommy on a daily basis. My step mother is still about; my kid’s grandma is about so that I do have a lot of help. So I am not going to say I am doing this alone, because I’m not. It requires a village to raise a kid and I received a village of folks around me. Even if there are times where I must take her to the gym, there’s always someone there. She is pretty damn independent I can take her to the shore; she can run around and swim on her own. She is going to be fine.” UFC Reebok Uniforms”I used to work for a fashion design firm; the only fighters I hang out with are either people I’m forced to hang out my buddies. I hang out with artists, fashion designers and musicians and materials. They’re hideous, like Jose Aldo stated we seem like f***kin Power Rangers. The gear is really comfortable; obviously Reebok creates a fantastic product. I don’t know who made the layout, no matter what generation we’re in 80’s 90’s, that does not fit anything, it is just awful. But perhaps I am wrong; maybe I’m looking for something a little cooler looking. Its functionality based equipment; that is all that matters. It is an evolution of the sport. We wanted it to excel, sure we are not going to get paid that much cash but it is what it is. If you’ve got a problem then quit, these are the numbers we must manage. If you are smart and you can market yourself and advertise yourself in manners like I have. I have outside sponsors; I’ve Layrite, which is similar to a hair and mustache product. I have got a great deal of clothing and lifestyle companies. I receive a lot of exposure from materials like this. People today need to know to step away from the box, make money for themselves and also have a wise agent” Thoughts on Reebok Deal”Yeah that would have been nice, but at exactly the exact same time they run a small business. They run a multi-billion dollar company that’s a premiere sports league. If you find the machine which is your UFC, from the inside it’s outstanding. The people are excellent; the business layout is just amazing. I wouldn’t ever say anything bad about the way that it’s all run, it’s amazing if you enjoy company. The matter is they did not have to consult with us because it is their organization. We are a commodity; as far as I wish to say cool we should be making money such as baseball, soccer and basketball. Because we should we are actually putting our lives at stake. But we are not and I don’t wish to estimate Urijah Faber, he said’I never got into this for the money’ honestly I catch it, I’m a businessman.” Outside sponsors”Financially I’m going to be fine. I’m always going to find ways [to make money]. I have part of a social networking company, I have a series I host called Direct Endorsement, also it’s a significant charity matter. I’ve got other things that is going to make me more money, so I will be ok. I really do feel for guys that don’t have much else or men that aren’t that smart. But that’s their own fault, figure out it it’s not rocket science” Being on Joe Rogan’s”Fight Companion” series”Yeah I was talking to Joe not too long ago. I’ve a growing friendship with Joe for a long time, we constantly talk about it but it is a little bit of a drive from my house with all the visitors.
